A responsive Search ad is written as a set of compatible messages, not as a succession of slogans. You must be able to change the order of titles without changing the offer, delete an unproven promise and preserve essential information. The method below provides a completed grid for a fictitious machine maintenance service, with planned intervention, as well as a check of the combinations before configuration.

The main thing: write titles that are understandable on their own, check their length in the tool, then reread their associations. Reserve pinning for truly essential information. A favorable diagnosis does not prove the profitability of the campaign.

Define the offer before multiplying the titles

First collect the information that allows an exact formulation: service offered, machines concerned, area served, methods of contact, conditions of intervention and exclusions. Associate each statement with a verifiable document: service page, sales procedure, quote template or applicable supporting documentation. A qualification such as “approved” should not replace this file.

Then define a single intention for the group: to obtain a planned maintenance request, rather than mixing maintenance, urgent repair and machine sales. If your structure is still undecided, the guide for prepare a first Search campaign helps to place this work in the organization of the campaign.

For the example, “Atelier Repère Maintenance” is an entirely fictitious company. Its offer is limited to an intervention organized after examination of the need. No immediate delay, emergency repair or certification is assumed.

Responsive Search ad: write standalone blocks

By default, titles and descriptions can appear in any order. Google requires that they make sense separately or together.[49] When displayed, Google selects at least a title and a description: therefore do not build your message around a supposedly permanent trio.[49]

For your proofreading, assign a function to each proposition: name the offer, specify a condition, describe a verifiable element or invite an action. A title must provide this information without depending grammatically on a neighbor. Discard “For all your needs” if there is nothing to identify the service; prefer “Machinery maintenance”.

Useful diversity is not a collection of synonyms. “Machinery maintenance” and “Machinery maintenance” can express almost the same idea. Conversely, a condition and an action add different information. The name of the company deserves a title when it helps to identify it, not a repetition in each proposition.

Control the limits without distorting the message

Title fields accept up to 30 characters; each description, up to 90.[49] These limits relate to each field, not to a sentence that you would divide between several titles.

Paste the texts into the Google Ads fields and use the counter. Check again after a change, especially to the company name. Don't shorten it by removing a condition that changes the meaning: rewrite the entire proposition. If information doesn't fit in a title, consider a standalone description, without assuming that all locations will always be displayed.[49]

Finally check readability, not just technical acceptance: accents, professional wording and absence of ambiguous jargon. “Planned response” is more accurate than “Quick service” for our scenario. The second text would introduce an expectation of a deadline which is not documented.

A completed grid for planned maintenance

The following grid is a completed editorial template, not a customer reference. The documents indicated represent the documents that must be assembled for the formulations to become usable. The last column distinguishes the titles selected from the variant to be tested.

RoleStandalone titleNecessary condition or proofDecision

ActionRequest a quoteAccessible form to explain the needRemember

Two descriptions accompany this lot:

  • “Maintenance by appointment, after checking the machines and the need. »
  • “Describe your machines to prepare a quote for planned maintenance. »

These formulations do not constitute proof of availability or competence. The supply manager must confirm the scope and the demand path. If he refuses a condition, correct the title before looking for another association.

Reread combinations, not just lines

First test each title alone with a description, then pairs of different functions, finally a few reversed orders. This selection is a replay method, not an exhaustive reproduction of the displays of Google.

  • “Machine maintenance / Planned intervention / Request a quote”: the offer, its condition and the action remain compatible.
  • “Ask for a quote / Written scope before work / Machine maintenance”: the reversed order does not create a grammatical dependency.
  • “Ask for a quote / Describe your need”: the two close actions provide little additional information; choose a variation for this lot.

Reduced control is useful: with the sole title “Request a quote”, each of the descriptions must still allow the maintenance to be identified. With “Maintenance according to your fleet”, the message should not lead you to believe that all equipment is accepted without prior examination.

Look especially for contradictions, repetitions and promises that only appear by comparison. “Planned intervention” associated with “Immediate troubleshooting” would be refused in our example.

This statement does not impose associations to Google. If a combination is problematic, rewrite or remove the affected component, or separate truly different offerings.

Pin only essential items

Pinning fixes a title or description at a given position. It reduces the possibility of association and can affect the effectiveness of the ad, called Ad Strength.[49] This is therefore not the setting to systematically apply to obtain a pleasant order.

When text must appear in each ad, Google indicates to pin it as title 1, title 2 or description 1. The title 3 and the description 2 do not guarantee this presence.[49] An essential mention must not depend on these last locations.

Document the reason before choosing the position: applicable rule or essential commercial condition, exact text and person responsible for its validation. If several variants share a position, each must retain the necessary information. Pinning does not correct a misleading promise or a conflicting page.

In the fictitious scenario, the planned nature of the intervention does not automatically create a legal obligation to flag. If you decide that this condition should always be visible, treat it as an explicit communication requirement and use an appropriate position.

Validate the batch and interpret the diagnostics

Organize the validation in this order:

  1. Accuracy : reconcile the statements of the collected documents and the target page.
  2. Format : check the counters, then the understanding of single and associated titles.
  3. Decision : keep, rewrite or remove each text; justify the pins.
  4. Proof : archive the dated batch, the page examined, the supporting documents and a capture of the fields with their positions. Name the manager who authorizes the settings.

Illustrated sheet for our lot: “Planned maintenance; title of offer and condition retained; a single action variant; no promise of urgency; switch to configuration conditional on length, page and pinning controls. »

In this method, use Ad Strength as a replay signal, not as proof of profitability. Do not remove an essential mention to improve this single diagnosis. Do not confuse it with the Quality Score either: Google presents the latter as a diagnostic tool, and specifies that its score is not input data for the auction.[53] To assess business utility, examine the requests actually tracked and their suitability for the service.

Frequently asked questions

Can we use the same batch for several families of machines?

Only if the advertised offer remains accurate for each and if the page clearly explains the equipment concerned. When interview terms or exclusions differ, separate messages rather than adding conflicting titles. A general wording must not hide a decisive restriction for the prospect at the time of his request.

Should we keep a very long company name in a title?

Not by truncating it to the point of making the company unrecognizable. First check if a short form actually used allows it to be identified without confusion. Otherwise, do not impose the full name in each title and maintain a clear identity on the target page. The editorial choice does not replace the verification of the identification obligations applicable to your activity.

What to do if the quote requires confidential documents?

Do not ask for sensitive details in the ad text. First direct to a form describing the need without exposing the technical documents. Then have your team specify the appropriate transmission channel. The description must announce this prior contact, and not suggest that a final quote will be established immediately based on a simple request.

Switch to control of your ad

Take your current batch and assign each title a function, a proof and a decision. Then test a reduced combination and a reverse order, then check the counters and any pins in Google Ads. Keep the validation elements before configuration. For an outside look at this file, you can request 4SYSTEM as part of its digital marketing services.
